The 29th Annual Haze Daze Flea Market

HAZELTON-- Last weekend's 29th annual Haze Daze flea market began with a parade at 10:00 am.

This year’s theme for the parade was "Summer Daze." The parade included participants from local and area businesses. After the parade, Oelwein Odd Rods Car Club Show and Shine welcomed everyone to check out different makes and models of cars and trucks. Booths were set up at 8:00 am on Saturday. Vendors offered antiques, collectibles, games, food, and beverages. The sounds of live music entertained everyone, while they enjoyed the sights or participated in the variety of activities offered.

Amish booths offered cakes, baked goods, tools, and toys to be sold. Many vendors on Saturday kept their display open longer for the crowd that visited this year’s annual event, until the threat of rain forced them to close down. The music and Beer tent featured DJ Ozzie and live music from Ramblin Fever from 1:00pm until 5:00 pm. T&T BBQ and Catering located in Oelwein was one of many food vendors who participated in the Hazelton celebration. The mouthwatering aroma of BBQ’d ribs lured many partakers to their stand Saturday afternoon. Nachos with pulled pork, cheese, jalapenos, and their own BBQ sauce were some of the many delicacies served by T&T. The fire Department served a spaghetti dinner for others, including garlic bread. The proceeds from this dinner would help benefit the fire and rescue department of Hazelton. Raffle tickets were sold for $1.00 a piece in order to win prizes donated by Hazelton Commercial Club and other local merchants. The event ended on Sunday with highlights focusing on the Methodist church pancake, ham & egg breakfast at Hazelton Legion Hall from 7:30 am - 12:30 pm. There was also more music, vendors, and family events. Kid's activities started at 11:00 am with kids
