Local "Art in the Mail" Subscription Driftward Press to Publish Area Youth: Submit Soon!

Have you heard of Driftward Press yet?! It's the regional art subscription service out of Decorah, but it's coverage area radiates throughout the driftless region. The monthly subscription provides subscribers with wall-ready art prints in the mail each month, always featuring a new and vibrant artist and writer. On each fine art print’s flip side, is a written work.

The goal of Driftward Press is to make art accessible and affordable, while boosting the visibility of Northeast Iowa area writers and artists.

Here’s how Driftward Press works:

Artists and writers within Driftward Press’ 150 mile radius around Decorah can submit work to Driftward Press. (The name Driftward Press comes from combining the word "Driftless" with the word "toward", a nod to the location of Driftward Press headquarters.) On the flip side of each print is a piece of writing by a talented regional writer which corresponds with the issue’s theme. Driftward Press subscribers receive their issue in the mail in a beautiful envelope each month. Subscribers are able to build an amazing regional art collection, stay in the loop with artists and writers in the area, and help to support the arts in and around the region. Because Home is where the art is.

November's Youth issue will be a wall-ready work of art.

Now through October 15th, they'll be accepting submissions for their yearly Youth Issue, hitting mailboxes near you in November! Co-founders Jeanine Scheffert and Cerrisa Snethen are thrilled to engage with fresh, youthful work from artists and writers in and around the Driftless region! Driftward Press wants to help give rise to the vision and voice of area youth and support them in their artistic pursuits.

  • Written and visual works will be accepted on or before the deadline from students ages kindergarten through high school.
  • One submission from each youth will be featured live online.
  • One written submission and one visual art submission will be formally published in the November Driftward Press issue. Interviews with the selected writer and artist will be featured at DriftwardPress.com.
  • Works must otherwise follow DWP's standard submission guidelines.

Subscriptions are currently available for about the cost of a monthly Netflix subscription, at DriftwardPress.com. Every issue is hang-able, frame-able and gift-able.

(The Driftward Press 150 mile coverage radius includes but is not limited to the communities of Decorah, LaCrosse, Lanesboro, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, Madison, Ames, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque, and parts of Des Moines.)
