McCaffrey's Dolce Vita in Decorah

McCaffrey’s Dolce Vita has fast become a favorite choice for dining out in Decorah. A unique, warm, and inviting experience awaits you here, with an extensive and thoughtful food menu, as well as a broad beer and wine list. McCaffrey's Dolce Vita is a family owned diner located in beautiful Twin Springs Park. The land where the restaurant was built, has been with the McCaffrey family since 1961. Having stopped on a visit to Decorah, I can tell you that the area was charming, and visitors were well treated.

The restaurant is just awesome. The food was fantastic. Dolcé Vita means "sweet life" in Italian. How perfectly fitting. McCaffrey’s Dolce Vita serves delicious salads, soups, pastas, and sandwiches that will excite your taste buds. The magnificent food, along with the friendly staff will certainly help you relax and sense that sweetness of life the name implies.

The restaurant's main dining area holds 90 people at maximum capacity and is often bustling. They offer indoor and outdoor patio dining options in the warmer months. Husband and wife Jim and Brenda McCaffrey own the restaurant. The style of the restaurant itself, as well as the style of the amazing food, is based on their explorations throughout Italy--specifically Rome and Naples.

My favorite dishes at McCaffrey's are the Mediterranean pasta, the house salad, and spaghetti. For kids there are simple classics such as "The World's Best P, B & J", and Margherita pizza. In fact, all of the incredible pizza on offer is old-style wood-fired with homemade sauce on a thin, perfectly crisp sourdough crust.
