The weekend after Thanksgiving has become a popular time to hunt for bargains and begin shopping for Christmas gifts. Take advantage of your local businesses on Saturday, November 26th-- "Small Business Saturday".
In Guttenberg, "Small Business Saturday" is paired with a merchant open house from 12 noon to 4 p.m.the following Sunday - giving shoppers, travelers, and families, even more time to enjoy each other and start their holiday shopping close to home. Shops offer door prizes, refreshments, and holiday deals all weekend. Customers can even play 'Reindeer Games' by participating in a scavenger hunt organized by the Chamber of Commerce.
A Christmas De-Lights holiday bazaar will be held in Guttenberg on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 4-7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 27 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. in the former Riverview Café, above the Dam Bar on River Park Drive. Vendors offering gifts and goodies range from Tupperware to Norwex, and crafters will be selling doll clothes, jewelry, purses, hats, soaps, solar lights and rain gauges. Customers age 12 and older will be asked to pay a $1 entry fee to the bazaar, but in turn, will receive a $1 coupon to be used at a local restaurant. Other activities planned for the day include face painting, music, and a jellybean jar guessing contest with cash prizes.
Santa will make an appearance on Sunday, November 27th from 1-3 p.m. in the River Park Place courtyard on the 300 block of South River Park Drive. There is no cost to see Santa, but visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the food pantry.
