Barn on the Bluff is located on the River Bluff Scenic Byway in Clayton County. Looking over the rolling hills, this 100-year-old “post and beam” barn gives you an amazing view of this corner of the Driftless. The barn has been completely renovated to keep a rustic feel and owners Rick and Julie promote togetherness and fun with a motto “play together-stay together!”
When you reserve the Barn on the Bluff, the entire barn is yours. Enjoy the generous space and accommodations of the 30x60 foot hayloft that has been converted into five levels for living and sleeping.
This country retreat offers a home-like atmosphere with a full kitchen, dining area, three bathrooms, a fireplace in the living room, and a rec room with billiards, ping-pong, board games, and TV. There are three private bedrooms, two dorm-style bedrooms, and two lofts (accessible by ladders). With all this space, 20+ people can stay quite comfortably. Did we mention the 60’x12’ covered porch and a fire pit where you can sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Clayton County’s “Little Switzerland”?
In the morning, Rick and Julie have a new approach to delivering a rustic breakfast. They load up a hand-pulled wagon full of fresh baked goods, special egg dishes, baked French toast, breakfast meats, and wonderful fruits. In addition to a delicious, hot, homemade breakfast, they also offer coffee, tea, and milk to start your day off strong.
Northeast Iowa has so many attractions for travelers to experience, and the Iowa Welcome Center is located just down the road on Highway 13. There, you can find all the information you need to make the most of your stay.
