3 Incredible Places to Stay in Northeast Iowa for the Holidays

Family crowded around a table at Thanksgiving is warm and inviting. However, as night approaches and Aunt Ida or Uncle Lionel offers a sofa or sleeping bag for the night, alternative accommodations may appear more inviting. Iowans know how to treat guests with lodging accommodations ranging from bed and breakfast inns to five star hotels. The best part is that Uncle Lionel will not be heard snoring in the next room. These three locations will assure a good night's sleep.

  1. Boarders Inn and Suites:  Boarders Inn and Suites is located on West Water Street in Fayette, Iowa. Amenities include guest laundry, indoor heated pool, whirlpool, hot breakfast, Wi-Fi, flat screen television, and a free daily newspaper. The rooms are quite spacious and attractively decorated. The lobby with a large stone fireplace is a great area to meet up with relatives or wind down at the end of the day. Amish stores and bakeries are located nearby. Reservations may be booked online.
  2. Cresco Motel:  Cresco Motel is a small motel located in Cresco, Iowa in Howard County. Travelers along Hwy 9 East will find the motel conveniently located on 2nd Avenue. The motel has accessible accommodations for mobility impaired individuals. Please ask for accessible accommodations when making reservations. Copy and fax machines are available for business travelers. Amenities include free cable television and HBO, off street parking and hiking trails. A number of rooms are available for guests traveling with pets. Some rooms are equipped with a microwave and refrigerator. Morning coffee is served in the office. Contact and reservation information is available on the website.
  3. Dug Road Inn:  Dug Road Inn blends classic and contemporary styling in a full-service bed and breakfast inn. The inn is located on West Main Street along the Upper Iowa River in Decorah, Iowa in Winneshiek County. The inn is an 1860’s Italianate villa with a secluded front porch and hiking trails. Visitors may enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or coffee by a beautiful fireplace; enjoy a bath in a jetted tub or an in-room massage. The complimentary three-course breakfast is served with fresh produce, organic meats, and baked goods. Visitors may dine on the front porch or elegant dining room. Photos and reservation information is available on the website.
