CLAYTON COUNTY-- The annual Strawberry Days in Strawberry Point start this weekend (June 9th - June 11th) with events, food, and games, and I can’t wait to go! In case you weren’t aware, this weekend is all about strawberries! The fun will be happening in Inger Park in downtown Strawberry Point, hosting carnival games, a cook off, volleyball tournament, a craft show, and much more.
Since 1970, the town has put on these festivities, including the always anticipated parade on Saturday, as community and county members march down the street for their organization or for fun. Besides the parade, I love the pancake breakfast, the Mud Run, the BBQ cook-off, the truck and tractor show, and of course, all of the strawberries!
Friday kicks off the fun with games for children throughout the night, with a talent and pet show. I love watching the kids show off their talents, or pet’s talents, before the kids parade across Inger Park. I also always stay tuned for the crowning of this year’s Little Mr. and Miss Strawberry! Friday is a good night for the kids to have some fun before the big day on Saturday.
Saturday is packed full of entertainment and activities! Throughout the day I love to hear the live entertainment while going around to the booths and enjoying what the day has to offer. Saturdays also feature a kid’s tractor pull, sand volleyball, a mechanical bull, and a classic car display. There’s never a dull moment during this festival! The best part though has to be getting free strawberries and ice cream!
While walking around the park, I love enjoying a wide variety of strawberry treats. Who can resist the sweet, bright taste of a big, bright red strawberry? I sure can’t! Especially when they’re baked into a buttery, flakey pie crust or a chewy fruit bar! Saturday morning I also love having a delightful pancake breakfast before the parade begins, and enjoy sharing food and treats with my family and loved ones.
