Attention artists of Northeast Iowa!! Applications to participate in the 21st Northeast Iowa Artists’ Studio Tour are now available!! The 2018 tour will take place October 12, 13, and 14 with studios open from 10 am to 5 pm each day.
The studio tour is a self-guided tour through quaint small towns and along winding gravel roads leading you to behind-the-scenes views into artists' creative spaces and working art studios. Specially timed to coincide with the splendor of the Fall colors, you'll also have the opportunity to soak up something else that the Driftless region of Northeast Iowa is also well known for. Last year's tour featured 51 artists at 38 locations, all within 40 miles of Decorah, Iowa, the hub community from which the tour radiates.
Fine art and fine craft artists working in painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography, ceramics, wood, glass, metal, printmaking, mixed media, handmade paper, fiber, and other mediums appropriate for fine art fairs are welcomed to apply. The work produced must be original in concept and design. Works must be executed by the applicant; works from molds or kits, commercial or manufactured items, and 'value-added' are not permitted.
Applications are juried and participants are selected for technique, quality, and vision. The applying artist's studio must be located within 40 miles of Decorah; artists are expected to exhibit their works in their studio unless public accessibility is an issue, in which case an artist can submit a request for relocation to exhibit at an area business or another artist's studio. The postmark deadline for submitting an application is March 15, 2018.
Participating in the Northeast Iowa Artists' Studio Tour includes color photos of artists' work and contact information in high-quality full-color posters and 30,000 brochures, complete with a detailed map with GPS to studio locations. Artists are also featured on the tour's website, social media platforms, and through interviews on Imagine Northeast Iowa. Participating artists also have the opportunity to exhibit in an annual preview exhibition in lead-up to October.
