Do you want to experience the great outdoors without having to REALLY experience them? Hiking, fishing and biking all sound fun until the sun sets and you’re left with a dinky tent….
Bring the whole family, and yes, I mean the WHOLE family, out to Backbone State Park to stay in Baumgartner’s Backbone Lodge. The beautiful lodge sleeps up to 35 and is the perfect place to host reunions, spend the holidays, plan small weddings, or enjoy nature without being in nature!
Located by the North Gate at Backbone State Park, Baumgartner’s is fully furnished with a full kitchen, four large bedrooms, three full bathrooms and two half baths—with in floor heating. The amenities don’t stop there as Wi-Fi is available, seating for up to 100 in the garage, stocked wood for the fireplace and fire pit, two RV hookups and a kid’s playhouse!
For more information on Baumgartner’s Backbone Lodge, check them out on Facebook, or call 563-933-4810.
Backbone features 21 miles of multi-use trails that are just waiting to be hiked or biked during the nice weather. When the snow falls, bring your cross-country skis and snowmobiles for some white wintery fun.
Bring the fishing poles and scour the clear, quick-flowing streams and reel in the loaded cold water trout. Once you’ve caught some prizes, hop into your swim suit and relax in Backbone Lake with some swimming and boating, or try your luck at catching some bass or catfish.
For all that Backbone State Park has to offer, head to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
