Hey, food enthusiasts, we’ve got a great excuse for you to plan a culinary road trip and enjoy some delicious moments this week in Northeast Iowa!
The inaugural Main Street Iowa Restaurant Week, September 15-24, is currently underway and more than 100 restaurants across the state are showcasing local dishes and serving up a wide variety of special menus, foods and rewards programs. Fennellys’ Irish Pub in Elkader is celebrating this week with daily specials as well as a couple of extra special specialty items.
Fennellys’ is famous for their authentic Irish dishes and they are bringing back a crowd favorite this week: Scotch eggs. These eggs are made from locally produced ground pork from Our Farm Meats right outside of Elkader. The eggs are served with a creamy dill mustard sauce.
While supplies last, they will also be offering a 12 ounce, hand-cut New York strip steak served with fresh, locally sourced green beans from Paulys Red Greenhouse, choice of potato and choice of salad or soup. Round out your culinary dining experience with one of their amazing desserts, like a piece of homemade Banoffee pie (this alone is worth a drive) or a warm, chocolatey Blarney Brownie with ice cream. They’ve got all your craft beer needs covered too with a great selection of local beers on tap. In fact, Fennellys’ Irish Pub is the only place in Elkader where you can find delicious brews from our locally brewery, Deb’s Brewtopia.
Now that we’ve got your mouth watering, round up a group of friends and make plans to head to Elkader this week. Don't wait either...Restaurant Week ends on September 24th. The fall colors are starting, so it’s the perfect time of year to take a beautiful drive through Northeast Iowa!
