Are you looking for a weekend getaway? Maybe it’s your anniversary, a special occasion, or you're just in need of a good old-fashioned fishing trip. Consider The Landing: A Riverfront Inn! This inn has picturesque views of the Mississippi River and is located in Guttenberg, Iowa. You can arrive by car or a boat. How awesome is that?
The Landing has ten charming rooms with original limestone walls and exposed wooden beams. The renovated three-story stone German-architecture warehouse was built in the 1850’s with a gambrel roof. This historical building once operated as a button factory, processing river clam shells into “Pearl” buttons. In the 1950’s, plastic buttons put an end to this mode of manufacture. And today, the inn operates as a charming place to stay, complete with scenic views and private balconies while staying in the suites.
While staying at "The Landing: A Riverfront Inn," we recommend you experience summer fun by fishing or boating. With a fishing barge, boat rentals, bait, fishing tackle, snacks, adult beverages, gas, and diesel available for your needs, it's an easy way to spend a summer day.
Rent a flat bottom or pontoon boat for a day. And trust us, Landing 615 knows how to take care of their guests. They provide you with oars, life jackets, cushions, and anchors. The entertainment is up to you! So what are you waiting for? Go explore the mighty Mississippi River.
At the Landing 615, you’re welcome to fish off the barge. With a quick shuttle boat ride over to the barge, you can easily take and transport all your fishing gear. The barge is anchored up by the dam in a fishing hot spot. A shed has been placed on the barge for your comfort on cool days with a wood stove to take the chill off, a porta potty, benches, and picnic tables. Just give a single bucket up when you have caught your fill of fish and you will be shuttled back in a flash. A fish cleaning table is provided to clean your catch of the day.
We don't know about you, but we certainly think a trip to "The Landing: A Riverfront Inn" is well worth adding to your summer Iowa bucket list. It really is one of the best places to experience the beauty of Clayton County Iowa.
