River Hills School is a special place of learning that serves children between ages 3 and 21. The teachers in the school have particular expertise in working with students with developmental disabilities. The school has been serving special students since 1969.

Hartman Reserve Nature Center is part of Black Hawk County. The location is part of the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area. The reserve is completely paved with wood and offers best in-state opportunity for wildlife observation and bird watching. The entire property is wheel-chair accessible. Other than the wooden pavement, there are other natural trails available, that offer hiking opportunities.
