There will be a variety of recognized, award winning artisans that will entertain and inspire artists of all ages! This free event is just the ticket for a weekend of family fun.
Bright colored banners along the highway will welcome event goers as large white tents will confirm that you have arrived at Founder’s Park for this fine arts festival. More vibrant colors and sounds of talking and giggling encourage the youngest artists to race over and participate in the Creation Station Children’s Tent.
The cheerful sounds of local musicians will stimulate your senses as you walk through the park and begin to smell aromas of the food vendors, including the authentic Korean cuisine of Darling Dumplings. You may decide to cool down with a delicious, sweet ice cream cone. As the warm sun begins to melt your treat, you will feel the cold, stickiness on your fingers. Fear not, though! There will be clean amenities available, such as restrooms, baby changing stations, a designated nursing mother area, and a medical aid tent.
To quench your thirst, continue around the park to find the local breweries and wineries. There, you will enjoy a crisp, dry class of wine or a smooth, refreshing glass of Iowa-brewed beer. If beer and wine are not your style, that’s alright! Grab a cold, tart glass of fresh squeezed lemonade.
While you enjoy your refreshments, converse with more than thirty talented artisans and learn more about their craft. Whitewater Timberworks will provide gorgeous handcrafted wood pieces, Christie Melby-Gibbons will share her amazing beadwork, Meg Prange will display her colorful hand sewn fabric pictures, Doug Cole will have amazing pottery, and Daryl Bruxvoort is sure to have a unique selection of license plate art. These artisans and many more can all be found this summer at the first annual Art in the Park event in Elkader, Iowa!
