Here is your chance to get out and help clean up our incredible area.
Say hello to Decorah Iowa's very first CITO! Cache In Trash Out (CITO) needs you. It’s simple: you geocache in an area and then take trash out. One weekend per year, geocachers around the world join together to help remove trash from geocaching-friendly locations. Last year, geocachers around the globe created the most successful CITO year ever. Over 640 CITO events helped clear more than fifty tons of trash from parks and wild places around the world. That’s a staggering 100,000 pounds.
Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!
Here are the specifics:
Let's plan on meeting April 26th at 10:00am at coordinates N 43° 17.417 W 091° 45.607.
For those who aren't GPS savvy..yet, this is the Trout Run access in Decorah, near the iconic 'Bridge to Nowhere'.
I'll provide bags and all I ask in return is an hour of your time to help clean up our area.
In addition to the satisfaction of helping pick up a bit and give back, this will give you a chance to learn a bit about geocaching. A few of this area's geocachers will be present and will be more than willing to answer any questions you might have. There are several geocaches currently in this area, and I'll have quite a few new ones in place for the day's festivities.
Feel free to invite your friends and help celebrate Decorah Iowa's very first CITO!!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
I hope to see everyone on the 26th.
Together, we can make Decorah's first CITO very special.
