The Hay Days festival, in the heart of downtown Monona, will have the streets buzzing on June 17 and 18! Head out and discover all Monona has to offer with this family-friendly festival that has something for everyone to enjoy.
The event kicks off with a Walking Taco Supper sponsored by Bulldog/Smith Childcare Centers from 6-8 p.m. in the Monona City Park. After munching down at the festival classic, make sure to register for the Glow Run put on by the Monona Fire Department and get the party started at dusk. The Glow Run After Party will keep the energy glowing with a good time.
The festival resumes the next morning with a Pancake Breakfast at the Monona Community Center. After a lively night, the pancakes will be the perfect morning kick start to benefit the Butterfly Gardens & Trail.
The rest of the day will be bustling with activities along downtown of Monona amongst the beauty of scenic Clayton County.
The Hay Days Parade: “Discover Monona” will bring laughter and smiles to young and old with creative floats highlighting all the glory that Monona has to offer. The parade will start at 11 a.m. so bring your lawn chairs and bags for candy and sit back and discover Monona.
Following the parade, roam the downtown for tasty treats provided by street vendors of local restaurants and bar and then head to the Classic Car & Truck Show & Competition to see the exquisite vehicles that used to grace the roads of the Scenic Byway in Clayton County.
Other events throughout the day include the “Discover Monona” scavenger hunt, kiddie tractor pulls, dunk tank, bounce houses, pie-throwing contests, and many more presentations and performances.
All-day DJ music will keep the crowd rockin’ and the Iced Cold Beer Garden at R Place Sports Bar & Grille will provide cool refreshments to help keep festival goers rejuvenated for the rest of the evening.
The Hay Days festival concludes with a Street Dance with beats provided by the American Standard Band. Bring your dancing shoes and dance the night away with friends and family to classic rock from the 60s-90s.
