Elkader Cinema: The One-Stop-Shop for Movies in Clayton County

Get the big-screen experience in the small community of Elkader at the Elkader Cinema. Sit back, relax and enjoy some of the biggest movies of the time without the hassle of having to travel to a bigger city.

Opened in 1941, the Elkader Cinema celebrated its 75 year anniversary last year in 2016. The Elkader Cinema showcases one feature film every week running from Friday to Thursday. The first showing on a Friday night begins at 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday have showings at 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The same film is then shown Monday through Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

The Elkader Cinema is known for its tasty concession stand to satisfy your movie going snacking needs, whether you prefer sweet or salty! They also have beer and wine available for purchase to the 21 years and older crowd. This, among many other reasons, makes the Elkader Cinema the perfect date night destination! Head to one of Elkader’s many restaurants before or after the show to get the full experience of this wonderful community.

The Elkader Cinema features films of all genres which will appeal to everyone! From family friendly G-rated animated movies to R-rated thrillers, this cinema will show it all. DVD rentals are also available through the Elkader Cinema. Have a birthday, anniversary, or reason to celebrate?  Did you know the theater is also available to rent for parties? Or, consider purchasing a gift certificate, which will make the perfect present!

The Elkader Cinema is a historic theatre—the only one in Clayton County! This all-digital theater, with the ability to show films in 3D, is a must-stop on your trip to Northeast Iowa.

Head to Elkader Cinema’s website or Facebook page to stay up to date with the latest showing and to check the upcoming featured movies.
