The idea of the Mink Creek Lodge began with our experiences growing up and raising our families on the farm. Our family has been creating memories on this 200 acre Northeast Iowa farm for seven generations. The Mink Creek Valley offers a quiet retreat for families to enjoy the outdoors.
The path of the Mink Creek has meandered over the years bringing water to farmsteads, and now has evolved into nature's playground for fishing and creek stomping. Our children grew up fishing on the creek banks. Spending their days stomping through the weeds to get to those secret places where they caught a beautiful native brown trout just the day before.
Where cornfields once followed the contour of the land, now native prairie grows abundantly. This is where our grandchildren learn the names of flowers, watch birds, and discover the insect's way of life.
Now as we grow older, we find ourselves spending summer afternoons strolling the paths along the woodland borders picking berries with our grandchildren. In the fall, we enjoy watching the leaves change colors and crunching under our feet as we hike. The snowy winter days bring us opportunities to use our snowshoes. When spring came again, we found ourselves tromping through the woods to find those jewels of the woods, morel mushrooms and spring flowers.
We often find ourselves spending evenings around the campfire with family and friends. After the fire dies out, we take in the night skies. The stars are absolutely stunning in this secluded area of the world.
These are just a few of our memories, now we would like to invite you to make memories of your own at the Mink Creek Lodge.
