Last night was a beautiful night for a game of catch or for running the bases, especially at the Field of Dreams.
It was truly lovely sitting behind the batter's box watching the men I helped cast pretended to be major league players for a mini movie.
For some it was their first time on baseball's holy ground. For others it was their first time to ever pick up a bat or throw a ball. For some it was returning to their home soil, celebrating a tradition of baseball that stretches more than 20 years. All donned authentic MLB gear and transformed from white and blue collar workers into men living boyhood dreams.
Some of these men are friends of mine and others were complete strangers. Tonight they became a team. They even got to feel like true stars as they were swarmed by baseball fans eager to get their pictures taken with them. What a joy it is to help make that happen
Over the last week, I have sent or received over one thousand emails and calls trying to find just the right men. The wear and tear on my keyboard and extra minutes on my cell phone were completely worth it. I can’t wait for the end result. More details about the shoot will come out in upcoming newsletters from the Ghostplayers and DreamCatcher Productions that will be out later this month.
