Fun Run Celebrating 100 Years at Backbone State Park

Wondering what the words fun and run have in common? Well, the answer is the Fun Run at Backbone State Park in Dundee, Iowa. This year's annual fun run is scheduled for Saturday, May 5th! Here’s to dusting off my bright neon pink and blue running shoes to enjoy the fresh clean spring air and picturesque views of Backbone State Park.

Enjoy all the beauty that nature has to offer while being part of a 5K-10K Fun Run to help celebrate the 100-Year Anniversary of Backbone State Park! The park is looking as beautiful as ever and what better way to swing into spring?

Be sure you have a hearty breakfast race-day morning and stretch those muscles! Then get ready to enjoy the fresh spring air fill your lungs. Take a moment to enjoy all that's around you: the trout stream flowing through the park, the birds that have made their way back after (what feels like) an incredibly long winter, and greenery starting to grow around you.

If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a shy white-tailed deer or a majestic bald eagle soaring high above you. It's things like this that make morning runs in the spring so special, not to mention the company and comradery of the people around you. Bring your family, friends, coworkers, and community members and get ready to move your body and enjoy all the beauty Backbone State Park has to offer.

You can register online here. Runners & walkers are all welcome!
