Welcome to Geocaching (pronounced G O Cashing) or just plain Caching.
Thanks to satellite technology, you too can explore our fine part of the State in search of "Tupperware in the woods".
People around the world will hide containers, publish coordinates to the geocaching.com web site, then you will upload these coordinates to a GPS receiver. If you are good (or maybe just lucky) enough, your search will take you to a hidden container. Sign and date the enclosed log and return as found. Go back to the geocaching web site and document your find.
This is Caching simplified.
This begins an introduction to the wild world of geocaching. And me, Brett Cargal (better known as lagrac in geocaching circles) will be your guide.
In the coming weeks, I will introduce you to some of the more interesting places in NE Iowa that geocaching has uncovered, and hopefully show you why I like geocaching as much as I do.
