Lansing Fish Days comes around every August. Every second weekend in August to be exact. The town of Lansing swells with people coming to celebrate and have a good time. The activities are endless and the price can’t be beat. This year Fish Days runs from August 12th-14th.
Admission for the entire weekend is only a $5 button or wristband that can be purchased right at the gate. Once you have that you are set to enjoy a weekend of fun. Most events are free of charge with your admission. Schedules with the full line up of events are available at the gates.
The offerings provide a wide range of entertainment for people of all types. For kids and families, Friday night starts out with the state-sanctioned Pedal Tractor Pull and the Big Wheel Races. All participants receive a free t-shirt. This year, new on Friday night will be a mechanical bull and a bounce house. The ever-popular pony rides will be there as well. For adults, the band Groove Station will be playing at the Lansing Fire Department, from 8pm- midnight. All of these events are free and included in the price of admission.
Saturday is a full day of fun for all ages. There are adult and youth fishing tournaments. The Harriet Hosmer Walk/Run 5k and 8k are also Saturday morning. Kid Again Inflatables will be back with their inflatable rides, including the Euro-Bungee Jumper. The rest of the day will include activities like the bean bag tournament, ping pong tournament, a children’s carnival sand pile, the money grab, and so much more. An event coming back for the second year that proved to be popular last year is the Cory Osborn Hypnotist Show. The Back Home Boys will be playing Saturday night at the Fire station.
On Sunday things start to wrap up, but not without plenty still to do. The parade takes place down on historical Main Street, and when that is over the food stands will still be open for a quick bite to eat. An inflatable carnival will be set up until 4pm on Sunday. New this year will be a water volleyball tournament at the Lansing Swimming Pool at 3pm.
