If you're looking for a great spot in Decorah to grab a bite or a brew, keep the Good Times Grill on your list of possibilities! I recently paid them a visit for lunch and I’m glad I did. As I entered the establishment, I immediately noticed the sports and wildlife theme and the several televisions along the wall of the bar. There’s also a billiards table and dart board that could make it a nice place to meet up with friends for a fun night out and some friendly competition. With brews from the Decorah-based Pulpit Rock Brewing Company on tap, it’s also a place that doesn’t forget the local creations available to incorporate into its menu.
Looking at the menu, I noticed a wide array of options. The Caesar salad with chicken looked enticing, as did the Rachel Reuben with turkey, sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing, and Swiss cheese on marble rye. I also saw wings as an option as well as several different nacho platters. I settled on a grilled chicken sandwich, swapping out the brioche bun for the marble rye and having it topped with lettuce, tomato, and American cheese. It was quite tasty. Sided with sweet potato fries, it made a good late lunch on a day trip to Decorah. Someone in my party had the unlimited soup and salad bar. With two soups, several dressing options, and a ton of veggies, it was a great value with options to please every palate.
Conveniently located on College Drive, it’s within easy walking distance of the Luther College campus and Dunning Springs. As summer quickly approaches, I can't help but think it would be a great place to stop after a day of kayaking on The Upper Iowa River or biking on Trout Run Trail. So, if you’re in the area, you might want to stop in soon to check it out!
