Luther College’s Center Stage Series is beginning this September. With most performances housed in the Center for Faith and Life, each ensemble gracing the stage is sure to provide world-class entertainment right in small-town Northeast Iowa without a drive to a metropolitan area. Performances run through the academic year, so there is certainly time to pick out a favorite or two or three and make that leisurely drive to the home of the Norse. As an alumna who’s taken in many performances there, the cliché that there is no bad seat in the house is true. I returned last year for a world music ensemble and it was a seamless experience from parking to seating to departure. If you like, some performances even offer a pre-show meal for an additional charge right on campus at Peace Dining Room.
Coming up on September 30th, Luther welcomes Flip FabriQue. Formed in 2011 by graduates of the Quebec City Circus School, Flip FabriQue aims to highlight the strengths of each member during their energy-packed performances that draw on circus skills and acrobatics and just great showmanship. When they leap into the air with grace and ease or perform some feat of strength, you’ll find yourself wondering, “How did they do that?” It’s surely the kind of show that will engage you from the very start and leave you spellbound until the end.
Flip Fabrique is just a taste of what the Center Stage Series has to offer. American Rhapsody: Gershwin Songbook is coming October 20th. Led by the accomplished Michael Andrew, this is sure to be an evening of great music you won’t soon forget if you are a Gershwin fan.
So, make plans now to attend Flip Fabrique or Amercian Rhapsody: Gershwin Songbook or go to both. Then check out what other world-class talent the Center Stage Series will be bringing right to Northeast Iowa.
