Hit the dirt, that's all I can say for there is something so incredibly special about our local mountain bike trail system.
You can find a trail that is welcoming to anyone on any riding level. You can enjoy the easy flow of River Trail or find yourself up in the Van Peenen East and West pines. If you're the more adventuresome type, roll down Fred's or check out the flow of the Mother's Day trails over on Dunnings. Either way, they're all fun!
Today was a good ride. The sun was out, birds were singing, and I could see and enjoy the delicate blooms of wildflowers. I'm a country girl at heart- the trails are my way of escaping "city life" and all of the hustle, bustle, and commotion.
May is National Bike Month, and I feel that's an ideal time to let you know about a fundraiser that Decorah Bicycles is doing to help support our local Decorah Human Powered Trails group. DHPT- are the folks who help maintain and build our local trails and will be helping to supply groomed singletrack next winter.
Starting May 1st, stop in at Decorah Bicycles and donate $5.00 to purchase a raffle ticket that will give you a chance to win one of three prizes!
Grand Prize- a $500.00 gift certificate to Decorah Bicycles
Second Prize- a Silver tune-up package valued at $79
Third Prize- A $40 helmet and a pair of SockGuy socks of your choosing
Our goal is to raise at least $500 for DHPT, but we would love to exceed that goal!
*There is no limit on how many raffle tickets you choose to purchase. *All proceeds go to DHPT
*Drawing will happen at end of business day on May 31st
If you use our local dirt trails for recreating: be it hiking, running, or riding horses--- we are so fortunate to have an amazing trail system in our town. Consider donating to the group that helps keep our trails enjoyable for all!
