Show your glow and support the arts at Guttenberg Gallery and Creativity Center’s 5K Glow Run/Walk on Friday, Nov. 4.All proceeds from this event support Guttenberg Gallery and Creativity Center's after school art program, which is offered at no cost to local children grades four and up. The nonprofit's mission is to provide high-quality community arts experiences for all ages in a safe, positive environment.
Guttenberg Gallery and Creativity Center was formed in 2007 and has given away after school art program scholarships to each and every student who has requested one since the program was started eight years ago. The after school program provides students with arts opportunities often lacking in today's schools, especially in rural Iowa, and hires local artists to teach their craft to youth through the program. Homeschooled children are welcome, as are all public and private school students grades 4-12. This year, the program includes one and two-day workshops with new course content like wheel pottery, painting and drawing, warm glass fusion, precious metal clay, guitar lessons, henna tattooing, making dreamcatchers, cooking classes from around the world, and more!
Enjoy a glow-in-the-dark party with a run-themed photo booth and glowing dance routine performed by the award-winning Clayton Ridge drill team. Run or walk along the Mississippi River on flat, wide, paved River Park Drive. When you return from your run, eat, listen to music and join in other fun activities during a post-run glow party! The gallery will offer 50% off house-made pottery for participants.
Entry fee ($28) includes registration, meal and drink after the run, and a glow item of your choice to wear during the event. This event is family friendly and dog-friendly, and participants are encouraged to glow up their attire! Click here to sign up.
