Santa’s coming to Spillville! Oh yeah, you heard me. The big guy's in town and he’s checking his list and if you have been good, you may want to bring your list to him! Come on out and get cozy and warm listening to Christmas stories, singing songs in your P.J.’s around the Christmas tree with your kids who won’t want to miss this fun annual event. So put your kids in their pajamas, grab a blanket for the floor and head over to the Spillville Public Library’s Holiday P.J. Party Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30 for some laughter, stories, songs and snacks to get your family in the Christmas spirit. Santa will be also stopping in for photos. You won’t even need to remember your camera, because yours truly, Joyce Meyer Photography will be there taking photos for you!
Library Director Renae Franzen and the Spillville Library Board consisting of Lana Ott, Joyce Meyer, Kristie Wiltgen, Sandy Oblander, and Joe Frana, have planned a fun filled night for your kids. Something new this year is a numbered sign-in card for each family, along with a permission slip in case you are featured in the local paper, to be filled out as you enter. Then when Santa is ready for photos, your family will know where to be in line and will hand the numbered sign in card to a volunteer. Yours truly, Joyce Meyer Photography, will have your photo ready at the end of the week for pick up at the library. If you are interested in holiday cards to send out, I can have them done quickly and back to you within a couple of days and a few may even appear in The Calmar Courier in the December 24th issue!
Parents, you are welcome to stay, but please remember not to be a distraction by talking to each other when the program is on. Don’t worry about taking the kids out on a school night for this holiday fun. The program will not run long for your little ones. There is a council meeting that same evening needing that room, and we will need to have everything cleaned up before that.
So get out your holiday P.J.’s, slippers, and blankets for some holiday fun with Santa this Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30. Come a little early to get your sign in card ready to see Santa.
Now, if you live in Spillville, don’t be surprised if you see adults and children walking around town in their pajamas or stopping at the Mini Mart etc on Tuesday. This is not normal activity as far as I know in our little community.
But don't be surprised if you happen upon our fearless, hardworking board president who puts countless volunteer hours in for the library, Lana Ott, who every year goes to great lengths to get in character as she leads the event. She has even been known in past years, at the last minute to head to pick up a few items on her way to the program in her night gown. Don’t be afraid, she really is normal, no need to call the cops to find out if they are looking for a missing person last seen in her pajamas. Just smile at her and tell her she forgot to get dressed today, even if you know better. Knowing our Lana, she’ll be sure to smile back hiding her laughter and tell you she’s had a busy day and forgot to get dressed. Or maybe she will tell you the truth and that you should bundle up your kids and come over to the library for some holiday treats with Santa!
