This Father’s Day, support a dad with your dad along, at a family fun benefit for Paul Korsness of rural Decorah. The event is organized by Burr Oak and Hesper Lutheran churches at Hutchinson Family Campground on Father’s Day, June 15.
Korsness was diagnosed with malignant pancreatic cancer last winter and has been taking treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Many businesses have donated to help the Korsness family with the benefit to help pay for medical, travel and living expenses. Forty-four year old Korsness, This photographer has helped donate the award-winning scenic photo on canvas of the bridge alongside Hutchinson’s campground taken at sunset last summer. The canvas photo can be seen at Rubiayat restaurant in Decorah until June 16th.
There are many different events going on all day starting early with an 8 a.m. family fun run/walk If you haven’t’ registered yet, you still can before the race. At 10 a.m. there will be an outdoor worship service with live music. Starting at 11 a.m. will be a free will donation meal. At noon there will be a live auction sold in lots of ten. At 1 p.m. there will be a toy duck race and at 2 p.m. there will be a beanbag tournament. The fun continues throughout the day with carnival style fun with a bounce house, dunk tank, cow chip bingo, pony rides and more.
Paul and his wife Nicolle (Hutchinson) Korsness have four children ranging in ages from 21 to 8, with oldest Kelsie, Dylan, Cameron and Jensen who live in rural Decorah. The family is very grateful for the outpouring community support during their time of need. As Northeast Iowans do daily, people from all over the county have come together to make this benefit a success. Bring your father to support a father in need. Come out for some family fun and support the Korsness family. Hutchinson Campground is located at 2299 Scenic River Road ten minutes from Decorah.
