If you find yourself in the southern hills of Guttenberg, you may find yourself transported to the vineyards of Italy. PromiseLand Winery, a family-run operation, is a 9,500 square foot venue, complete with courtyards, an event room, and a wine-making facility.
PromiseLand Winery’s tasting room boasts two fireplaces and several varieties of wine. The wine is made only steps from the bar, in the very same building; the grapes themselves are grown atop a hill just a half-mile away. The vineyard produces San Croix, Lacrosse, and Marechal Foch grapes, which result in wines like Crazy Girl, a sweet red, First Crush, a sweet white, and La-T-Da, a dry red.
Visible from the road leading to the Cassville Ferry, PromiseLand Winery attracts thirsty customers with its two courtyards that regularly host live musicians. Once inside, guests will find a large event room that mimics the square in an Italian village. Street lights, patio-style seating, and real shops line the square. Shopping includes clothing and purses, snacks to pair with wine, wine-themed items, baby gifts, and-and humidor filled with reasonably-priced cigars. Hot pizzas are served fresh from the on-site kitchen.
While PromiseLand can be rented for private parties, like receptions and professional events, its owners often plan unique events for their customers. On Saturday, Feb. 4, an interactive murder mystery dinner will entertain guests and feature a three-course meal and, of course, PromiseLand’s many varieties of wine.
